Jessica Freeman > Associate

Jessica FreemanJessica Freeman devotes her legal practice to zealously advocating for civil liberties and the fight against illegal discrimination. As one of few (if not only) openly transgender attorneys actively practicing law in the State of Colorado, she brings unique perspective and insight to her work. She understands what it feels like to be treated differently because of who you are and knows how impactful and traumatic that can be. She listens carefully and understands her clients’ needs. Jessica also represents transgender women in a class action lawsuit against the Colorado Department of Corrections. This lawsuit highlights the State of Colorado’s failure to protect these women, provide them medically necessary care, or treat them equally and with the basic human dignity afforded to other residents of Colorado’s prison system.

Jessica is an active member of the Colorado GLBT Bar Association and the Colorado Plaintiffs Employment Law Association. She also serves as a board member for the Community Care Collective, a non-profit organization that strives to provide needed medical care and a safe space for members of the gender expansive community and their families.

Jessica began her practice of law in 2008. She now dedicates her practice exclusively to plaintiffs’ employment discrimination and general civil rights litigation; however, she has a background in other areas of litigation and transactional law, including family law, criminal defense, personal injury, tax arbitration, and estate planning. She graduated cum laude from Western Michigan University in 2004 with a bachelor’s degree in political science and went on to graduate from Wayne State University law school in 2007.

In her free time, Jessica also enjoys spending time with her son and their kittens, as well as snowboarding and climbing Colorado’s tallest peaks.
