Employers are not permitted to discriminate because of your age. Anyone over 40 years of age is automatically within the class of persons protected by the ADEA and other state laws. Have you been called an “old-timer” or “grandpa” at work? Does your boss take away your tasks because he/she does not think that you can handle it or because you are “too old?” Are your younger managers treating you differently than your younger co-workers? Does your company hire younger workers over older, more experienced workers? Is there a job posting for young, energetic applicants? If you answered yes to any of these questions and you are over 40 years old, you may have a claim against your employer under the ADEA or state law.
